Welcome to the Unitarian Church of Harrisburg's Website!

The Unitarian Church of Harrisburg invites you to explore our church, both online and in person. We are One Church in two locations, living out our ministries from both our urban campus in Harrisburg's Allison Hill neighborhood, and our suburban campus in nearby Swatara Township. If our Core Values of Loving-kindness and Connection, Transformation and Joy resonate with your religious journey - and if you are inspired by our mission to "Build Bridges" and "Celebrate Community" across our many ages and races, our genders and gender identities, our sexual orientations and our abilities - then we hope you will join us, for Sunday morning worship (at either location) and any of our other programs and events. We are glad to have you with us!

UPCOMING EVENTS

Neighborhood Beautification Tuesday, September 1 @ 1:00 pm (Market Street)

Please join UCH, Tri-County Community Action Revitalization Outreach program, Shalom House and other community groups for a painting party from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  We will be painting murals that will then be hung on the abandoned building at 1458 Market Street and on the retaining wall at 1212 Market Street.  Nothing is needed except your participation!  Contact Sparkie Radcliffe for details.

LTFH Task Force, Tuesday, Septmber 15 @ 7:30 pm (Clover Lane)

Our Goal: Long-Term Financial Health for UCH       Our smallest problem: What to call us?

We will meet September 15 to begin working on ways to achieve long-term financial health for UCH, and maybe a more pronounceable (for those who don’t speak Klingon) name than ‘LTFH task force.’  We will be brainstorming possible steps toward this goal, steps as varied as:
  • Reading and discussing The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist,
  • Creating a Legacy Society at UCH (comprising of members who have included UCH in their wills),
  • Presenting a class for UCH members and friends on  Money Management / Financial Literacy (how to avoid having too much month left at the end of the money), and/or  perhaps:
  • Changing the stewardship process.
Join Jim Cavenaugh and Donna Hoskins-Helm for a challenging yet rewarding discussion.

OUR NEXT COFFEE HOUSE CONCERT
Womack & Lowery (Friday, Sept. 18 @ 7:30 pm)
Womack & Lowery perform “music of many colors” including originals, blues, country, ballads, folk, Americana, and even old standards. Their style is acoustic, and their delivery is straight & true. Featuring local musicians Janie Womack and Julie Lowery, the duo will make you laugh – they’ll make you cry – and that’s what entertainment is all about!   About Womack... [Read More]

Your Board of Trustees, after long and deep deliberation, has decided that Sunday services for 2015-2016 will be at 9:30 am at our Market Street site and at 11:30 am at our Clover Lane site starting on September 6. We came to this decision after a review of the options developed by participants at the Worship Retreat held this past Sunday at Clover Lane, attended by 35 members, friends, and staff.
